Content:

In Year 7 Performing Arts, students will experience elements of Dance and Drama with a focus on performance skills. Students create, rehearse, perform and respond using the elements and conventions of drama and dance, developing their skills as reflective thinkers who can posit and solve problems, and work both independently and collaboratively. They consider the role that dance and drama play in the world, and interpret the works of others as their gain appreciate for the art. In the performing arts, students are encouraged to be imaginative, creative and empathetic as their build their confidence.

Activities include:

  • Skill Development – Students undertake a range of dance-specific exercises and/or drama games to help build students skills and awareness in this area along with safe performance practice.
  • Performance – Students will get to work both as a class and in small groups learning and developing performance pieces specific to will present to peers at the end of the program.
  • Response – Students will analyse, evaluate learn and investigate key topics in Dance/Drama.
Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
